Just wondering if any one is trying to negotiate professional development benefits into their contracts, and how successful you have been or are.
behvior intervention for a 2nd grade special ed student

I am a new paraprofessional, and I was recently assigned a 2nd grader with behavior problems. The teacher doesn't include him any assignments,homework, nothing. He just wants me to keep him quiet so that he won't disrupt the other students. This child can learn, although he is slower than the rest of the class, but he is not involved in any of the day to day work of the class. I hve been working with him for 2 weeks and he has not been violent or acted out, I needs some ideas on how to work with this child, so that he can reach his goals.
