new to GA with 9yrs exp where to apply for job openings

Hello I am new to Georgia. I was a Paraprofessional in Special Education for nine years in Michigan. I live in the Jonesboro area. Does anyone know of any immediate job openings kind of close to where I live. A fourty-five minute drive or less would be nice. Thank you in advance for responding.

Summer Job Opportunity

I have an immediate need for an experienced parapro to work with my 12 year old over the summer on non-academic, socialization and behavioral goals. Please contact me at debby.e.roseman@sprint.com if you are interested. We're located in north Fulton county.

Paraprofessional in a Private School Setting

I work in a private school setting with an amazing program for students with learning differences. Resources are not an issue but the students's pay handsomely for the services. I would love to talk with any other Para"s that work in private school settings. The same rules and/or challenges do not tend to apply that apply in public school settings. Look forward to hearing from someone.

  • Michelle Auger

Michelle Auger was recently awarded the Paraprofessional of the Year award at Richmond Hill Elementary School, an award voted on by her peers. Her husband Tim said this about her:

"I think she really deserves this," he said. "I know, on the home front, we couldn’t run the household without her. She loves her job. She has several different degrees out of college and she could pretty much go out and do a lot of different things if she wanted to, but she enjoys working here with the kids and the fellow professionals here at RHES. She’s always wanted to give back to the community more than doing something for herself, and that’s her way of doing it. She enjoys her place and she tells me it’s worthwhile and rewarding to her."

Visit this news article for pictures and video of the event.

  • I went over to YouTube tonight to look for paraeducator videos- I was only able to find one, but it is a good one from the National Education Association. Watch Arthur Goff explains how he became a paraprofessional and tell about some of his experiences:

Anyone else willing to video yourself talking about the importance of paraprofessionals? If you do, post it to YouTube and let us know!
