Wheelchair user and P.E. class
I have a student with cerbal palsy in a wheelchair. He loves basketball. This semester his 9th grade health class changed to P.E. The teacher of course adapts activites for him but he also wants to shoot at the basket. We tried it for a few minutes and he has great aim, but the basksetball never got higher than the net. Each time he would shoot he was more and more hopeful that it would go through the basket but it never did. After several minutes of frustration we decided to change the activity. He wants to know why he won't ever get it through the basket. I need some advice or feedback on what I should do for him or say to him in order not to crush his spirits. (I asked about lower basketball nets but none were available.)

PE and Wheelchair
Check in your area for your Special Olympics group. I did this for a student and found a coach that was willing to donate some time to helping my student. It wasn't for basketball but this coach was great and was able to give the student tips that I didn't know because A. I didn't know the sport and B. He worked with teams in wheelchairs.
Maybe this will help.
thanks
