Unfair Evaluations

:?:  Hi, I have been a para for five years and this year has been the worse ever. Well, for starts I got a new uncertified teacher in special education. I thought I was employeed to assist with the learning process and social development of students not to train and bring the teacher up to part of what should have been addressed during her hiring process. Don't misunderstand me, I don't mind sharing my skills and talents wher ever I can but I have learned the hard way that when I don't, I am labeled as not a team player and given a bad evaluation. I am not the INTech Instructor nor am I the EBD consultant. Therefore, I don't feel as if I should be penalized for not spending my time training a teacher on the PC, administering diagnostic tests, and showing the "teacher" how to complete FTE reports, etc.

Take a look at your duties. Does it say that you are required to train the teacher? I highly doubt it. I would go to admin. and express that I am not comfortable with the situation and that you are not certified to teach teachers. Knowing this kind of thing is happening concerns me. As a parent I want to know that my children are being taught by those who know what their job is.

Unfair Evaluations

I understand your problem. I am working with one right now. I am not looking forward to going back to work. Another person has told me since I am not appreciated I should find some other line of work. I have been working for some time now and i am an asset to children. I just don't know at this point.
