I am a current para in Illinois. I have been with the same district for 4 years, but have finally gotten a pink slip. :(
My husband is the network admin here as well, and also got a pink slip, both of us for financial reasons.
We are looking at moving to the Space Coast area of Florida, and I am wondering if my paraprofessional certificate from WorkKeys will transfer to Florida.
Does anyone know if that is the case, or will I need to start from scratch?
I do not have any college credit- I took the test for certification before NCLB came into effect.
Me, and my Fiance Dwyane plan to move to florida in the near future. What are the requirements for me, I have an associate of science in interdisciplinary studies-educational paraprofessional, I have been told that I would possibly need a cda cert. or at least 120 hrs to work in one particular school in our local district. I am in the school system as a Substitute Teacher have been for 3 years now.
What you have to do is start getting help from other paras. They will help you find jobs or a spouse. They don't care about much except helping other paras. This should help.

I am a paraprofessional in NYC and have taken all the necessary course work (Violence Prevention and Child Abuse) and was hired full time after a year of subing. I do not have a bachelors or an associates (I do have some college) but I had taken the parapro test and have my original tests scores. Do I need to take the test over again when I move to Florida or can I submit my original paperwork from when I first got hired? I will be moving to Jacksonville.

I have both a B.A. and an M.A. in journalism, with minors in French and Italian. I am currently teaching an entry level journalism course at a university in Arkansas. I have thought about becoming a para-professional. I have been a teacher's aide in elementary school and a volunteer coordinator for a junior high school, also assisting in the classroom.
What kind of qualifications/training would I need to become a para professional in a Florida elementary school, and what kind of pay am I looking at?
You will need 60 credit hours. If you do not have that you can take the parpro test. Depending on what area you want to be in the ESE dept. for a paraprofessional pays the best. I belive it is aroun $9.00 an hour. (an estimation)
I will be moving to Tampa,Fla this summer. I was wondering what I needed to do to become a paraprofessional in your state. I'll be coming from New York.
