State "test"???

Just wondering if anyone has taken their state "test" for paraprofessionals. Our school district was told ours is not ready yet, but should be soon. If you've taken the test, what was it like?

State "test"???

I would like to help students catch up, it is sort of a relief that the math stops at 8th grade level, I think I do even better with language arts or science. I would be freaked if it were Algebra 2! There are some though that would be offended if it wasn't that high of a math... I am considering the teacher assistant position but I'm trying to see where I stand with the test and everything. I'm very happy with the Para E Link tutorial! Kristi

State "test"??

Boy, I agree. They must think Para's are not capable of doing more?? We too are spose to get more money an hour (from $7.00 to $12.00). At least that is what is proposed. We'll find out if it comes to fruitation in about 3 weeks. I too am getting my degree, same as you...to be more marketable. I think I will also go on to get my teaching degree. I am in my 40's, but I think, well, I could be 4 years older, or I could be 4 years older with a teaching degree, so I am going for it. Actually, one school board member goes "which spot should we hold for you?" So, that made me feel really good, and i think in four years, there will be some teachers retiring, and I will be able to get in and be a teacher, so that makes me really excited! Annie

State "test"??

We finally received information about the test and a study group the week before school was out for the year. Some who studied agreed with you...an eighth grader could pass it without studying! What does that say about the states thoughts toward parapros? :( I decided to go ahead and get my AA degree. The district is "supposed" to pay those who get the degree more, but with budget cuts who knows, plus the AA will make me more marketable if my husband decides to move later.

State "test"???

Your post is old, so I don't know if you are even still logged onto here. But, I did take the ParaPro test as a participant for developing the cut scores. If you study the booklet that accompanies the test, you will do fine. I didn't study and got 88 of 90 questions right. I cannot imagine a person NOT passing this test. Most of it is common sense, and the questions, to me, seemed geared to what an 8th grader would know.
