Hi, i am in school to be a paraprofessional and i have a very important question. One of our assignments is to find out our states requirments for becoming a paraprofessional.
Hello,
Last year I took and passed the ATAS. As informed I also took the 2 recommended workshops. Now I do understand that there is a freeze with the hiring of paraprofessionals but my questionis: would it be most valuable to me if I start college in the Fall to help me acquire a position as a paraprofessional?
It confuses me when some of the information online states that training is acquired when you land a position as a paraprofessional and then also read that the hiring is based on someone who is taking some type of college course in education.
In California it is the same as the Federal guidelines. There is no requirement for one particular test if the "rigorous" test option is chosen. Our nonprofit consortium of schools provides a test to meet the NCLB requirements which is included in our membership. You don't have to be in California to join the consortium. Free test taking practice is available on our website at www.codesp.com under Links (scroll down to Test-Taking Practice)and also visit the Resources area under Test Preparation for Applicants.
