Para wanting info on training for CDA

I work as a para during school hours and then after school I am the school age child care provider. I have started taking some classes for child care and have heard alot about getting a CDA. I have talked to some about it but still do not know exactly what it consists of. If anyone has info on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!!!

I went the opposite way. I used to work in a Preschool, so I went for my CDA, and received it. I did all of my course work throu C.A.R.E. I found the classes great. I did my portfoliio, got observed in a classroom, the whole process to about a year. anymore more specific questions, I would love to answer them Paige

Difficulty

I was wondering how difficult it was or what. I have met with my mentor about a month ago and she told me I could be done by June 1. I guess I was ahead of the game and I only need 10 more hrs of training. I was just curious how the interview went and the test. I don't work much in the childcare at my school I work in the school age childcare. I am getting my CDA because the school needs a director for the infant and toddler childcare. I am not sure how it will be with not working in the room much. I do go in and visit with them during my lunch hour and after my children have left for the evening. I have met with some parents also. Just curious.... thanks for your help!!!! :D

The test was extemely easy, almost insulting, The inteview consisted of him showing me pictures and I talked about what was right or wrong, what I personally would do differently. the hardest part was I obsessed over my portfolio and he glanced at it while taking my test. They give you 2 hours, it took me less than 1/2 hour. I had to set up someone to observe me a fill out all these forms. And I had to have a lot of my parents fill out a survey about me, The return rate is very important. The application fee I think 365 I applied for a grant, so the wholr process is not really that hard. Paige

Thank You

Thank You!! I seem to be the same way I am wanting my portfolio to be perfect. This helps to relieve some pressure from me. Thank you very much... :)
