Hi I am new to the board. I was wondering if anyone knows the laws in Texas regarding paraprofessionals being left unsupervised to teach children? I am the computer lab manager and I have been left alone to teach children for about 5 years. I am doing a teachers job but being paid as a teachers aide. Doesn't seem fair. :?: Have a nice day

Well, we have a CEI lab and I do not work in that lab. I am not on contract or in a union. Thanks for the reply :D

Hi brisal, I would like to know if you work in Title I. I see you are in computers. In Bflo Teacher Aides that work under Title I in the CAI(Computer Aided Instruction) Program usually work by themselves. They are called CAI Technicians. They set students up on the computers with math or reading programs that chart students progress. At the end of the program the CAI Tech record students scores and report these scores to the Title I Supervisor. On occasion I have subbed as a Teacher either half day or all day. I was compensated for doing that. If you have some concern about discuss it with you Union officer and see what your contrat states. Maybe there is a time frame that an aid can be alone in a classroom with students. :D I hope everything works out for you. :D Let me know.
