New Law for Paraprofessional

I want to know is there a new law for paraprofessional regarding certification? Does it consist of the No Child Left Behind Act? wink

re: new law for paraprofessionals

I work in Texas and from what I have heard that they can't hire paraprofessionals unless they have 2 years of college or a certification. at least I wouldn't have gotten hired on unless I had my certification.

Teacher Assistant Jobs

Hello, all.
I am in my second year at Temple University as an Art Education Major. I am a transfer student with 150 + credits.

Some background information first:
I earned my Associate Degree in Graphic Design Technology May '98.
From there, I worked as a graphic designer at a local newspaper company down in Milton, Florida for two years.
I joined the U.S. Army in Aug 2000, in which I served for 4.5 years, until Feb. 2005.
I began attending Temple University in Aug 2005.
I am interested in a teacher assistant position at an elementary school setting in Montgomery County, PA to gain teacher experience before actually stepping into an art teacher position.

My question:
Are there teacher assistant jobs available for Associate degree + individuals such as myself? Do I need to take some type of course to become a teacher's aid, or is there on-the-job training for teacher's aids?

I appreciate all information available.
Thank you.

Law for certification

Hi there, I don't know what state you are from, but the guidelines for CT indicate that all Para's who work for a Title I school are required to pass the parapro test before Jan, 2006. oops! wink we've passed that date! The law may be different for each state. Good luck finding out.
