making a living or making a difference

I am a para professional for a rural high school. This is my 3rd year. Because of budget cuts we are now working 31 hours a week at 9.30 an hour.

Money is extremely tight and because of cuts I now work with more students than ever. More cuts are on the way next year and because of the heavier case load and shorter hours I never seem to get anything accomplished.

I know I make a difference but also I work because I need the money, not that this job is mainly for a paycheck or I wouldn't do what I do.

I am doing some real soul searching. Am I making a difference. I don't need constant reassurance but a pat on the back would be nice once in a while.

Should i stick it out or should I let someone not so burnt out work with the students and move on?
