Length of time with individual student.

Does anyone know if there is a state law restricted the length of years that a paraprofessional can be with a student? I started with this student in K and her parents are concerned that I will not continue with her. A new employee has stated to several people that there is a state law preventing me from continuing as her aide. I have researched everywhere I can think of and can find nothing...let me know your thoughts.

I have never heard of such a law . Where does this new employee get this info. from. I have traded students with other para's before I seemed to get as far as I could with the child. Even whole groups, this seemed to work well after working half of the year with me and the other half with someone else, it seemed to double the possibility for success. Good Luck don't be intimidated by anyone

Laws requarding length of time with student

I have worked many years with the same school district, I have had three students, I have gone from kindergarten to graduation, second grade to graduation and starting sixth grade, we are now in tenth grade and I am planning on continuing until the student graduates. I am not aware of any law. Be careful of information given by others, unless they have verification from their school districts or from the Department of Education and can prove it, passing false information can bring about dissension amongst other paraeducators.
