Introductions and Needing Inspiration

Greetings from Florida! My name is Susan Goldman and this is my first year as a paraprofessional. I love the work I do with all of its ups and downs. I do need some inspiration or guidance from those of you more experienced with the greatest, most fantastic part of the day... Lunch Duty! Currently, our school is trying to figure out an incentive program that rewards students for good lunchroom behavior. So far, they've come up with the idea of giving students little coupons, which they can save up to redeem a treat. My only concern with this is how cumbersome it may to hand out slips of paper....much less how well the students keep track of them. Oh, I might mention I help supervise 55-70 kindergarteners :D What does your school do and how effective is it? I look forward to your responses :D

Needing some help insiparation and alot of other stuff

um how can I put this, right now I am currently umemployed and have been for a long period of time, I walked out of my last job which I probably shouldnt have but it was getting to the point where I was giving up and stressed out alot. I currently have two medical conditions making work for me harder than I expected it to and not being able to earn the proper amount of money I would if I was working at a normal job, in case ne one wants to know or asks what my disabilities are I will tell you, which are Type 1 Diabetes and a Seizure Disorder and both these conditions make it very difficult for me to find a decent job and its a struggle for me to make enzmeat or however you spell this word, I still live with my parents even though i am 24 going on 25 in October so I have to be thankful I have a roof over my head and food I can eat, if someone can help inspire me i would appreciate it

Introductions and Needing Inspiration

My heart goes out to you. I am presently disabled with very little possibility of ever returning back into the system. I have over 24 years experience working in the Buffalo School System and I have to admit I do miss working with the students but I don't miss the lunch duty. I don't even think there is a easy system out there. It's through trial and error as long as everyone is on one accord. Teamwork is the main thing and I don't think you will have a problem. The last three years I worked in the lunchroom I worked with a good group of workers and we backed up each other so we kept our problems down to a minimum. Good Luck in your career, it is rewarding.

Thanks for your response! Yes, I'm beginning to think you are right about there not being an easy system out there. Thankfully I work with an excellent bunch of ladies at lunchtime. We try our best to keep each other posted on who's gone to the restroom, why this child was removed from their class, etc etc etc... And the general consensus is that Lunch Duty is the least desirable aspect of being a para. But I must admit, it is the fastest part of my day...and I do enjoy the affections of my little kindergarteners :)
