Duty free lunch????

Does anyone know if special ed paraprofessionals in the state of Texas are guaranteed or required to take a duty free lunch and breaks? A friend of mine sometimes eats lunch with the students but also receives a 30 min. break during the day. She says she is not required to eat lunch with the students but sometimes it just works out better if they're short handed. I thought that it was regulated that paraprofessionals had to take a duty free lunch and breaks just like the teachers. :?:

Duty free lunch????

I don't know of any "regulations" about a duty free lunch, but in many places, it's a contract issue. Most all unions would definitely try to get a duty free lunch period for it's members. Thank heavens mine is duty free! If I had to stay in my office and work during lunch, I'd probably go nuts! 8O ninab

Duty free lunch????

:D Hi, I'm not sure about state regulation or your district regulations, but the the district that I work for gives all Paraprofessional a 30 min duty free lunch. Now, some of the para's choose to eat with the students so that the students have someone who knows them, help them to eat. Then, they will take their duty free lunch, just to relax. Talk with the department chair or whomever is over the para's at the school in question. They should be able to give you a answer. Have a great day! Cheryl
