Becoming a Para...

Hi, everyone! I am new to the board, and I am very interested in a career change into this field. I have a few questions though...I have researched many colleges in my area (NYC), and their courses. But I want to be able to get some hands on experience first and work at a childcare facility. Then persue my degree and become a teacher. Is this at all possible? What sort of experience do I need to work at a childcare facility if any? I interned at a J.H.S. with 5th graders(I was in HS) and it was the best internship experience I had! I would absolutely love to have a career within this field. I know this is a tough question but, anyone with any sort of information, please post, it will be greatly appriciated!!! :D Thanx so much!!!

New to teaching assistance myself

:D Hey, I'm new here also, I found a neat site that someone suggested, it's www.nrcpara.org. From what I see and hear, it's free online learning for anyone considering this field. I was looking for a medical office position but even this teaching assistant opportunity is a great start. Good luck to you and welcome a'board' (lol, chalk...nevermind...) Kristi
