Description

When play is done intentionally and planfully, it can be one of the most impactful ways to teach young children. In this session, participants will learn about the research that continues to support students learning through play at all ages. Participants will also gain a deeper understanding of the different types of play and how to facilitate play at different levels. Participants will learn how data collection and assessment can be done through play, without negatively impacting a child's play. Additionally, the use of supports, higher order thinking questions/activities, and strategies within play will be discussed. Embedding practice and assessment of IEP goals/objectives and standards within play will be examined. This session is designed to delve into all the possibilities for student learning and success that can happen through play.
