Small Ways to Prevent Big Behaviors
This session starts with a brief overview of behavior and the function behind it. It discusses 5 steps to prevent behaviors: building relationships, environmental considerations, language strategies, reinforcement and teaching social skills. The attendees will learn strategies in each of the areas and see visual examples that they could use in the classroom daily. This presentation will also discuss various visual supports, organizational tools and sensory strategies. Additionally, a variety of curriculum will be presented that help students learn social skills strategies, such as self-regulation, communication skills, play skills, conflict management skills, and friendship management skills.
