Resources for School Leaders to Guide the Support and Use of Special Education Paraprofessionals
Pennsylvania has a comprehensive system of training and technical assistance to support professional development and build the capacity of schools to provide quality educational services to students with disabilities. This session will describe the goals of Pennsylvania's Special Education Paraprofessional initiative along with a brief history of the initiative as it has evolved over the past decade. The presenter will share a variety of resources available for use by school leaders, trainers, teachers, and paraprofessionals to move towards best practices in implementing paraprofessionals as part of the educational team. Resources that will be presented include on-demand training for paraprofessionals and school leaders; materials trainers can use to provide professional development; and publications developed for school leaders, teachers and paraprofessionals.
