Description

Do your colleagues teaching partners, administrators and community members understand the essential role that all educators play in student success? Do they know how this can help in the fight against privatization? Participants will learn how to recognize the many faces of privatization, how to prepare against outsourcing threats, and how to defend paraeducator careers from privateers. The presenters will share ways for local education support professional (ESP) unions and teaching colleagues to work collaboratively to combat local and statewide threats by using the whole student approach. The whole student approach messages how paraeducators and other ESP are critical members of the education workforce, making the clear connection between ESP careers and positive student outcomes. The presenters will also share how all educators can work together to build community support and gain respect for their roles in education.
