Deafblind Interveners: Building a Profession

This session will provide information on the challenges faced by children and youth who are deafblind in educational settings. The role of interveners will be explained, along with how interveners provide these students with access to information needed for learning and communication. The training needed by interveners will be described, as offered through higher education programs, including Utah State University. The National Intervener Credential will be discussed, and efforts to professionalize the intervener practice will be addressed.
